When Brian retired from GMP he became Assistant Director with Salford City Council, focusing on community services. He has championed neighbourhood working in the city, making Salford one of the leading authorities for empowering its local communities.
Brian is now Lay Member with NHS Salford Clinical Commissioning Group, with specific responsibility for engagement. Brian is also a Fitness to Practice Panel Chair with the Health and Care Professions Council.

Brian’s long professional connection with Salford made Kidscan a perfect fit for his ambition to support a worthwhile, vibrant charity. After several years as a trustee of the charity, Brian was elected to the position of Chair by his fellow trustees in 2014. He brings his many years of experience at a senior level with the police, local government and health sectors to his role as Chair of the Board of Trustees.
