Dr David Pye – Scientific Director
(non-voting board member)
Dr Pye has worked in biomedical science and clinical research for over 25 years. Currently senior lecturer at the University of Salford, Dr Pye teaches at masters and undergraduate level in drug design and biomedical science.
Prior to joining Kidscan, Dr Pye spent 11 years working at The Christie as a scientist in clinical research and medical oncology, moving on to become a biology lecturer at the University of Huddersfield. He holds a BSc (Hons) in biochemistry and a PhD in medicinal chemistry from the University of Manchester.
Dr Pye has worked with Kidscan since 2008, taking on the role of Scientific Director in 2014. His knowledge and passion for childhood cancer research is vital to the mission of the charity, enabling the cultivation of new anticancer drugs from natural products that are gentler on developing bodies.
Outside of work, Dr Pye finds time to fly light aircraft, tend his allotment, and cruise the inland waterways on his boat.
