Ged Carter – Director of Development
(non-voting board member)
Ged Carter brings over 25 years of marketing, change management and fundraising experience to Kidscan, leading the fundraising team. Ged has worked at a senior level in public sector and charity organisations across the North, including: St Luke’s Hospice, Sheffield; Trinity Hospice, Blackpool; and the Royal Liverpool Hospitals NHS Trust.
Prior to his work in fundraising, Ged led and implemented marketing strategies for some of the biggest British retail brands, including The Co-Operative Group, ASDA and SPAR. He has translated this commercial acumen into strategies to maximise fundraising opportunities for the charity sector, most recently as Head of Fundraising at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
As Director of Development, Ged leads the efforts to publicise Kidscan and to find new sources of income. This involves leading the fundraising team, guiding and consulting with our trustees, developing strategy and building relationships to find the major donors of tomorrow.
Ged was attracted to his role at Kidscan because “it’s hard to think of a more noble cause than finding new, safer treatments for children’s cancers. Enabling children to survive cancer, and live a full life unaffected by the treatments that save their lives, is something worth going to work for.”
