Superhero Little Stoke twins donate birthday presents to charity

Selfless twins from Little Stoke have refused birthday presents this year, asking that their loved ones donate to children’s cancer research charity, Kidscan, instead.

Amber and Abigail Glasse, who recently turned nine, wanted to help beat cancer after watching a school friend at Stoke Lodge Primary battle the disease. After researching their options, they felt there could be no better birthday present than supporting superhero scientists to find new childhood cancer treatments.

The twins have already raised over £550, five times their initial £100 target, with family and friends rallying to support their efforts.

Ged Carter, director of development at Salford-based Kidscan, said: “To be eight years old and decide to donate your birthday presents to charity is no small thing.

“We’re honoured to have Abigail and Amber’s support, and will do everything in our power to discover new treatments that mean childhood cancer sufferers not only beat cancer but live long, healthy lives.”

Amber and Abigail’s mum, Debbie Glasse, said: “The support we have received from friends, family and the local community has been phenomenal.

“I’m incredibly proud of Abigail and Amber, and can’t thank everyone enough for helping them to smash their fundraising targets.”
