COMMUNITY CHAMPIONS: APRIL

Alison England, our Community Fundraising Manager, brings you our Kidscan Community Fundraising Champions update for April:

“Our favourite postie does it again!!! Not only is Kev Wright raising hundreds of pounds each month with his Community Lucky Numbers but he also arranged a huge raffle for the residents of Roe Green

Since December they got the chance to win incredible prizes, everything from signed football shirts, meal vouchers, beauty products to lots of bottles of bubbly!  Each week Kev and his partner Jo go live on Facebook to draw out the winners of the week and then as a special delivery service, Kev delivers the prizes himself! All the money raised has been split between the Salford Mind charity and us here at Kidscan

Yet again we are so grateful to Kev, Jo and of course everyone who bought a raffle ticket as we have received the incredible amount of £850!

Amelia decided to set about on a challenge of her own by doing a Mile a day! Amelia wanted to help Kidscan’s work discovering new treatments, to help children with cancer develop a good quality of life. So, she launched ‘Millies Miles in March!’ She has done an amazing jobraising £95 and counting!

We are so grateful to Amelia for her hard work and support. It really does make a huge difference to our charity and helps us to fund vital research so WELL-DONE MILLIE!

Martin Cooper is a local Salford City supporter and wanted to do something for a local charity. Having kids himself he couldn’t imagine how difficult it is for parents to have to go through a terrible ordeal with a child who has cancer.

Martin used to be in the Airforce and was quite fit but hadn’t exercised seriously for a few years. His young son was set a running challenge by his football club so Martin accompanied him and started running. This then spurred him on to do his own challenge and raise money for charityWe’re glad he chose Kidscan

Not wanting an easy time of it, Martin decided to run 20 half-marathons in March – a total of 262 miles. Incredible! He dealt with sore legs and blisters but soldiered on to totally smash his fundraising target, raising a whopping £1855! Martin is a total superhero in our eyes and we’re over the moon with his incredible support! Well Done Martin and a massive congratulations on completing such an amazing challenge!

Seven-year-old Lucy wanted to do something to help people, so she decided to cut off 12 inches of her beautiful hair to raise money for Kidscan. And to add to that good deed, she then donated her shorn hair to the Little Princess Trust who will use it to make wigs for children and young people who’ve suffered hair loss due to cancer treatment

Lucy raised a wonderful £220, what an incredible little girl Lucy is. Everyone at Kidscan thinks she is a superstar! WELL DONE!
