Head of Fundraising

#teamkidscan are looking for a new Head of Fundraising to have direct responsibility both for the fundraising team overall, and to undertake hands on fundraising as the lead for major donors and corporate partnerships. Potential candidates will develop and implement the organisations fundraising strategy, maximising efficiency and the return on investment. Your role will also include developing and using industry and personal networks to attract and retain supporters for Kidscan. You will also ve required to represent Kidscan at external functions, meetings and events when appropriate. Another key aspect of the role would be to ensure regular contact with the Chair of Trustees and develop and maintain an open and supportive relationship with team members whereby they can speak openly about concerns, worries and challenges.

The Person needs to be/have…

  • Commercial focus – Identifies and sells new business opportunities for the organization. Handles commercial risk and negotiations with confidence
  • Leading others – As Head of Fundraising it is important that the successful candidate takes responsibility for managing the fundraising team.
  • Strategic orientation- Focuses on the big picture and strategic view of the organisation. Confidently handles complexity and applies relevant theoretical models to their work.
  • Planning & Delivering – Plans for the short and long-term. Uses schedules and structures so that tasks will be completed on time and as specified
  • Building networks – Takes the initiative in making new contacts. Maintains strong and productive relationships. Communicates frequently with their network of contacts.

Cancer is the leading cause of death in children in the UK. 25% of children diagnosed with cancer won’t make it to their 30th birthday. And over half of those that do will live with a lifelong disability caused by the treatments which saved their lives. Through ground-breaking research, Kidscan is striving to change that, giving every child with cancer the treatment they need to survive and thrive. After a record fund-raising year in 2017 they are now looking for a dynamic new Head of Fundraising who can help drive the charity forward with its ambitious goal of ensuring that every child diagnosed with cancer not only survives but thrives!

Remuneration: This role’s remuneration will be dependent upon experience.
