Volunteer Business Board Member

Help us best childhood cancer.

We are recruiting a number of experienced professionals to form a Volunteer Business Board to raise money for childhood cancer research.

Currently over 60% of childhood cancer survivors will suffer life-limiting side effects caused by treatments that damage their bodies. These side effects last a lifetime and can include hearing loss, organ & bone problems and even infertility.

Kidscan Children’s Cancer Research are one of the only charities in the UK solely dedicated to finding safe new treatments for children diagnosed with cancer. By finding therapies that only target cancerous cells, we hope to create a world where every child can survive cancer and thrive throughout adulthood without suffering side-effects.

As we embark on the next step in our journey, we are looking to bring together a volunteer committee of business leaders to galvanise the support of the North-West business community through networking and executing a calendar of fundraising events and activities.

Volunteer business board members will:

  • Have opportunity to organise or input into a series of fundraising events implemented by the committee itself.
  • Be able to utilise their own business network boost fundraising income
  • Have opportunities to network with senior professionals and link with businesses through Kidscan’s network and annual calendar of events
  • Have the opportunity to form and shape the format of the business boards for expansion across the UK
  • Be able to fundraise for complex projects such as The Centre of Excellence, a key goal in our strategic plan.
  • Receive inductions, training and reimbursement of expenses

Volunteer business board members must:

  • Be passionate about finding safe new treatments for children with cancer and supporting those affected by the disease.
  • Be able to meet one or more of the following criteria:
  • Highly connected in the North West, with a particular focus on Manchester, Salford and Liverpool
  • Experience organising events, networking events and/or fundraising events
  • Experience in project management, finance, managing a team.
  • Commit to a minimum of 2-4 hours each month which may increase depending on any fundraising activities established. This includes up to 6 meetings per year, in person or via video conference

This is a great opportunity for professionals looking to give something back on a regular basis, or take on a role similar to a trustee, without the additional time commitment and governance requirements.

Deadline for Applications: 30th July 2021
Interviews: w.c 7th August 2021
