Alison: Our London marathon runner Kelvin hosted a fabulous evening of entertainment in memory of his father and celebrating his 10th year supporting Kidscan!! The variety of performers was fantastic including a Celina Dion impersonator, 80’s singing sensation Shane Nolan’s band and our very own Kelvin along with many other incredible performers! Kelvin dedicated the night to our gorgeous little ambassador Amy, who is currently having treatment after a relapse. Everyone was extremely generous, raising a huge £1450!
I spoke to Kelvin as he came off stage:
Kelvin: “My wildest expectations have just been fulfilled, an unbelievable night! And I tip my hat to the venue, everyone has just put 110% effort into this.
To me it’s more than words can say, honestly when I first joined the Kidscan family, I had to find out about the charity, I like to get involved and the minute I met the people; the staff, the kids well that was me. I was hooked if that’s the right word, I’m not really sure! I feel part of this family and the kids are like my daughters, my sons, they really are
It’s amazing to be back on stage! I never thought what it would be like without it and then I kind of came back and I thought I’d just come back and snap back into it what I did before. But I haven’t, I’ve a greater love for it now. Its more about making people smile rather than you get up there and doing it as a job because its not a job, not at all. Now I can’t wait for the London marathon, honestly. I’m standing here with a pint in my hand, and I’ve had a full breakfast at 5 this afternoon but I’m enjoying this weekend, this was the massive weekend I had to get out of the way. Well not out the way because I never want it to end, but from Monday I can fully focus on London next week. I did Chester half last week. That was the turning point as I’d been out injured for a couple of months, and I came back for Chester, and I limped to the start line. The first mile it was the first time I ever thought, am I going to do London? Am I going to be on the start line for London? But I came through Chester just 5 minutes off a PB (personal best) and I’m ready for London now. I can’t wait!”
Alison: It was such a great night and so good to actually be out, entertained by live music! Thank you, Kelvin, for all your hard work. Good luck in London and we can’t wait for the next gig in 2022!!!
