Read MoreThis month, the Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, Mr Warren Smith KStJ JP DLitt LLD, visited the Kidscan laboratory based at Salford University.
Chief Executive Bob Carter said “ We were absolutely delighted that the Lord Lieutenant, who is Her Majesty the Queen’s representative within Greater Manchester, accepted our invitation to visit. It was a very proud moment for us all. The Chairman of Kidscan, Martin Keelagher and I were privileged to introduce him to Dr David Pye, FRSC, Scientific Director of Salford University and a Trustee of Kidscan, who was able to explain first-hand the successes and developments of Kidscan’s research into childhood cancers.
Also present were Alison Blackburn – Registrar and Secretary of the University, Professor Mike Rogan – Deputy Dean of the School at the University and Alison England and Jason Simat of the Kidscan Team. We are privileged that the Internationally respected University is home to the specialists and laboratories for the life changing research that we enable to be undertaken. The University also hosts our offices and supports us on many different operational aspects involving staff and students on all levels.
Working together, we want to ensure every child diagnosed with cancer survive and thrive through adulthood and having the Lord Lieutenant as our guest was a great honour for us all.”
