Martyn Hett Memorial Awards

On Friday 15th November, the Martyn Hett Memorial Awards took place at the Sportsman’s pub in Hyde. The evening was organised by Andrew Richardson who is a close friend to the Hett Family. Andrew has organised this event for the last 3 years after Martyn was tragically killed in the Manchester Bomb on 22nd May 2017. Before he died, Martyn was a supporter of Kidscan and his family wanted to carry on his legacy and continue his good work.

The worthy winners on the night were people within the community who have gone above and beyond for their in sport & physical activity. Each of the 6 winners do an incredible job running clubs and groups which really does have an impact on the people within the town.

The Mayor of Tameside, Leigh Drennan came along and presented the awards alongside Paul, Martyn’s Father. Paul is also supportive of Kidscan and is ensuring Martyn’s good work supporting our charity, continues.

Along with some fabulous raffle prizes, the crowd were treated to entertainment from the incredible Luke Crabtree and Lee Oldham who sang well into the night. Also, the owners of the Sportsman Pub provided the room for free as well as a gorgeous buffet for all to enjoy.

Andrew has worked so hard to make this event very special and he does extraordinary things within his community – they should be very proud to have him!

The evening was a huge success and they have raised £340.80!

We are very grateful to Andrew, Paul and the good people of Hyde for their generosity and we are sure that Martyn would be delighted by your achievement.
