MP Rebecca Long-Bailey visits Kidscan labs

The University of Salford was delighted to welcome Rebecca Long-Bailey, MP for Salford & Eccles, to the Cockcroft Building for a tour of the Kidscan laboratories, hosted by Scientific Director Dr David Pye.

Kidscan is a charity that aims to develop new and improved treatments for children with cancer. The charity works closely with students and academics from the university during their research and is based at the heart of the campus in Alumni House.

The tour showcased some of the amazing work and research being carried out at the university.

Ms Long-Bailey, Labour’s shadow business and energy secretary, said:

“I was impressed by my visit to Kidscan’s Cancer Research facility at the University of Salford. They’re an amazing charity carrying out cutting edge research into child cancer treatments with state-of-the-art teaching labs and a school programme to give children ideas about a career in medical research

Professor Helen Marshall, Vice-Chancellor at the University of Salford, said:

“We were delighted to host a visit from MP Rebecca Long-Bailey to the Kidscan laboratories right here on campus. The University has a longstanding relationship with Kidscan and we are proud to support research into the treatment of children’s cancer.”
