How to promote a virtual collection

The beauty of a virtual collection is that you can promote it without leaving the comfort of your home. Promoting anything can be a daunting tasks so here are out helpful tips on promoting your online fundraiser!

First things first, make sure you have setup your online fundraising page. You can use any platform, but the main three our supporters use are Facebook, JustGiving and Everyday Hero.

Share it on social media
Once you have your page setup, the first thing to do is to share it on social media. Grab the web link from your fundraiser and post it on all the social networks you use, asking people to donate to your page. Some social media sites include: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Linkedin.

Make a video
Everyone loves watching videos, and making one can be fun too! Use your phone to record a short message asking people to donate to your fundraiser. Remember to tell them why you want them to donate and most importantly where to donate.

Update your supporters
People love to feel like part of a team, and fundraising is no different. So it’s important to keep people up to date. Start by setting yourself a target so that you can keep your supporters updated with your progress. Knowing you are almost near your target may just encourage an extra few donations!

Just £10 will fund 1 hours work of research, so as people donate you can also let them know exactly how much research your fundraiser has helped to fund!

Say Thank You
Whether, it’s on your fundraising page, through social media or on the phone, you’ll be surprised how far a simple thank you will go when you are fundraising! A Thank you will make your supporters feel appreciated and you never know, your polite manor may even encourage more people to fundraise for you.

Add a challenge element
People love to donate to a good cause, but sometimes adding a fun element can encourage more people to donate. You could tell people that you will dress as a chicken if you hit a certain amount of donations, or eat a bowl of cold custard if you hit your fundraising target!

These are just a few ways you can promote your virtual collection, but if you need more help or just want to talk about how to improve your fundraiser, get in touch with one of our team today.
