Currently In the UK 20% of children diagnosed with cancer will not survive because treatment options are limited. Of those who do survive, 60% will go on to develop life-limiting side effects caused by treatments that damage the healthy cells in their bodies. These late-effects can last a lifetime and can include organ and bone problems, development issues, hearing loss, secondary cancer and in some cases infertility.
This September we are asking you to help us to change this by raising awareness of the challenges children diagnosed with cancer can face, as well as vital funds to help us find safe new treatments. So wether you choose to wear your gold ribbon, share your story or even set up a monthly donation, everything you do this September will help us move one step closer to a world where every child diagnosed with cancer can survive and thrive throughout adulthood without suffering late effects.
Get Involved this September by raising money for Kidscan. To help you get started we have picked out a few of our favourite ways to raise! And don’t forget once you have a fundraiser in mind, let us know and we can support you in making it a huge success.
A Gold Ribbon is the international symbol for Childhood Cancer and is worn by people across the globe to raise awareness.
This September we are asking you to get involved in our yearly campaign by telling us who you wear #GoldFor. Wether it’s for someone fighting cancer, in memory of a loved one or simply to support everyone fighting cancer, sharing your story can really help us raise awareness and make change!
You can share your story on Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin and don’t forget to tag Kidscan!
You don’t have to share your story to raise awareness, you could wear a gold ribbon, display one of our posters in your window or share our infographics about childhood cancer. Every conversation you have this September really does make a difference!
