Swinton Square charity Bikeathon 2021

Alison England, our Community Fundraising Manager, was finally released out into her natural habitat; to work with our supporters at Swinton Square to raise money and awareness of our work at Kidscan. 

“What a fantastic 2 days we had at Swinton Square Shopping Centre! It has been a long 15 months since we were last out in the community, meeting and speaking to people so we were really looking forward to it. And what a belter of a time we had!  

We have recently partnered with the wonderful team at Swinton Square who have chosen us as their charity of the year.  So we kicked off our collaboration on 4th June with a 2-day Bikeathon. The staff and business owners took it in turns to cycle in an effort to reach 249 miles in two days and I’m happy to report that they smashed it!  

On what were the hottest days of the year so far, everyone was kept hydrated with water and ice-pops from Freeze Factory plus the cyclists kept their energy up with cones of chips from Parade Fish Bar!  

Staff from Farmfoods, Greenhalghs, Swinton Pet Supplies and many others all helped clock up the mileage with some members of management doing their miles virtually too!

Local slimming group leaders lent a hand too, helping with our cycling efforts and a fantastic raffle through their groups held in Swinton. For more info contact Sharne here.

Also we must say a huge thank you to the fantastic shoppers who were out and about in Swinton Square. They were so generous with their donations – we collected £293 in cash over the 2 days plus Swinton Square were also raising money online, taking the current total to a whopping £643!!
