We are proud to announce that KidsCan Children’s Cancer Research has officially joined forces with North West Cancer Research to secure the future of our charity and continue our mission: to ensure that every child diagnosed with cancer not only survives but thrives.

Founded in 2002, KidsCan has worked tirelessly to fund pioneering research into childhood cancers while also offering hands-on support to families navigating the devastating impact of a diagnosis. Over the years, thanks to our supporters, we've raised over £5.6 million—funding vital projects, hosting inspiring events, and offering life-changing care to children and families, particularly across Salford and Greater Manchester.

But like many small charities, recent financial pressures placed our future at risk. That’s why this new partnership with North West Cancer Research marks a turning point—one that will allow us to grow our impact, invest in more research, and reach even more families.

North West Cancer Research shares our values and regional focus. As the only independent cancer research charity dedicated to the needs of the North West and North Wales, they’ve funded over £55 million of world-class research since 2000. Together, we will build on each other’s strengths to improve early diagnosis, develop safer treatments, and transform outcomes for children with cancer.

Jeremy Lea, Chair of KidsCan, said:
“Every year, 1,900 children in the UK are diagnosed with cancer. Sadly, one in five won’t survive—and of those who do, 60% will suffer long-term effects due to harsh treatments. This partnership ensures our work to change these numbers will continue, and grow. We are excited for the future and what we can now achieve together.”

Paul Moonan, Chair of North West Cancer Research, added:
“We’re proud to be part of KidsCan’s future. Their passion and impact in the field of childhood cancer is inspiring, and this partnership will enable us to work as one team toward our shared goal: a cancer-free future for all.”

We want to thank every supporter, donor, volunteer, and partner who has helped us on our journey so far. With North West Cancer Research by our side, the future is brighter—for the children we support today, and for generations to come.
