This month we are pleased to announce Bev as our volunteer of the month. Bev has been a valuable asset to the team bringing in her experience from working for a multi-nation company and sharing that with the team.

Before retiring in April 2019 I worked in HR for nearly 30 years, mainly in manufacturing organisations. I particularly liked working with people, supporting them to develop and achieve their full potential whilst meeting the needs of the organisation. The roles in my HR career were varied. In the early years, I was site-based enabling me to balance my career with raising a family. Once my family were independent I took on more global HR roles and was fortunate to be able to travel to South Korea, Japan, China, USA, Europe....etc. I am grateful for the experiences I had and the people I met.I knew that I wanted to do volunteer work when I retired from a global HR role but I didn’t know what exactly.
I joined Kidscan as a volunteer in August 2019. Since then I’ve been involved in a number of activities. The main part of my role is to co-ordinate Gift Aid. This requires compiling all the necessary information and submitting an application to HMRC to claim tax relief on donations made by UK taxpayers. Whilst I probably get the most satisfaction from this task I am very happy to do other activities that help the Kidscan team. Currently, I am updating a database in preparation for the launch of a new fundraising event. Recently I have had the pleasure of attending two events where we welcomed distinguished guests who unveiled plaques in recognition of the great work that Kidscan do.
Volunteering at Kidscan is satisfying and good fun. The team is a small group of friendly and welcoming people who all work very hard. They work well together and support each other. The one thing I notice most when at the Kidscan office is the passion the team has for this worthwhile charity. I am proud to feel part of the team and would recommend volunteering with Kidscan.......especially if you like cake as there’s often cake to be eaten
