Brave Beard Shave raises over £1800

Liam Scott made the decision to shave off his beloved beard after 14 months and raise money for Kidscan in the process!

The fantastic owner of the Townley Hotel Pub in Beswick was happy to host this brilliant fundraiser! Pauline who owns the pub said, ‘This is a great thing that Liam is doing, and we really wanted to raise as much as we could for Kidscan and people here are very generous’! She wasn’t wrong! Local business donated fantastic prizes from beauty treatments to carpet cleaning and even a voucher for the local chippy! People had given lots of prizes to raffle including a gorgeous chocolate cake, hampers and a sign United shirt and boot where amongst the prizes too!

Liam was a bit nervous beforehand but his daughter Hunnie and lots of friends and family where there to support him! A local barber did the shave for Liam and everyone cheered and clapped through the whole shave. Once it was all done and Liam was all fresh-faced, he was delighted with himself and the support he has had, even though he felt a bit cold!

The donations continued pouring in throughout the day and night and Liam not only had the support of the locals from the Townley but other businesses had been collecting at Yummies Cafe, One Stop and Toni’s Chippy.

Liam has also been given a brilliant charity donation from Lloyds Bank for £500 towards his fundraising, which has certainly boosted the amount.

Liam was so keen to support Kidscan after learning more about the side effects that children with cancer can face. He said ‘I really want to make a difference to these kids who suffer with cancer and I cant imagine how difficult it is for them and their family’s to go through it. If me shaving my beard off can raise money, then I am going to do it!’

I am delighted to say Liam raised over £1800 and everyone at Kidscan are so grateful for this amazing amount, this will fund over 180 hours of vital research. THANK YOU & WELL DONE!!
