Volunteer Cashier

Help Us Count Cash for Childhood Cancer Research

Are you reliable and organised with good numeracy skills? Able to commute to the Salford Area? Are you able to commit 1 day per week? Then we want to hear from you!

We are currently looking for a volunteer Cashier to count and process all the donations from our collection tin scheme.

Currently over 60% of childhood cancer survivors will suffer life-limiting side effects caused by treatments that damage their bodies. These side effects last a lifetime and can include hearing loss, organ & bone problems and even infertility.

We are one of the only charities in the UK solely dedicated to finding safe new treatments for children diagnosed with cancer. By finding therapies that only target cancerous cells, we hope to create a world where every child can survive cancer and thrive throughout adulthood without suffering side-effects.

Each year our collection tins placed in stores across the country raise over £60,000 for vital childhood cancer research. As a Volunteer Cashier you will help us to process the donations by counting the change in each tin at our head office in Salford.

In this role you will:

  • Count the donations received in our collection tins
  • Prepare the money counted for banking following our finance processes
  • Record donations on a spreadsheet so we can thank our supporters
  • Prepare each tin for redistribution, ensuring tins are clean and ready to collect donations again!
  • Receive a full induction, training and support from the Kidscan Team
  • Be supplied with all equipment materials needed
  • Be reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses
  • Have the opportunity to meet other volunteers at Kidscan events throughout the year and network through our dedicated Facebook Group.

Collection Volunteers must:

  • Be passionate about volunteering for a charity that is finding safe new treatments for children with cancer and supporting those affected by the disease.
  • Be able to commute to the Salford Area (expenses will be reimbursed)
  • Be able to commit at least 1 day per week to processing donations at our office in Salford
  • Have basic IT skills with particular experience in Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software
  • Have excellent numeracy and book keeping skills

Please note that due to the nature of this role, although this is a voluntary position it is dependant upon a successful interview and DBS check

To apply please submit your CV and cover letter to recruitment@kidscan.org.uk
