Festive Community Champions

Alison England, our Community Fundraising Manager, brings you our Festive Kidscan Community Fundraising Champions update:

Toys R Us:

Our amazing supporter Josie Lloyd-Wilson has again raised money for Kidscan, by selling off her old toys from her parents’ loft! She was surprised that she managed to sell her old Barbies and games, but in the end, Josie managed to raise a wonderful £1000.

Josie is a dedicated supporter of Kidscan following the sad loss of her husband Robbie to Cancer in 2016. Josie was 8 weeks away from giving birth to their son at the time. Josie has raised thousands of pounds for Kidscan over the last few years; by hosting a concert, shaving her head, selling baby clothes and more.

This donation also comes in memory of Robbie on the anniversary of his death and his birthday. I am sure Robbie is as proud as we are – thank you Josie x

Christmas Jumper Days:

We are so grateful to the primary schools who have hosted a Christmas Jumper Day in aid of Kidscan! This included St Marks Primary School, Worsley, Moorside Primary Academy, Droylsden and Birchfields Primary School, Fallowfield.  Isla St Marks' Xmas Jumper DayOur ambassador Isla attends St Marks and as well as her Christmassy jumper she even styled her hair as a snowman – we love it!

All the children and staff at each school took part with lots of fantastic sparkly jumpers, raising over £700 between them. We think you all did a fantastic job, a huge thank you to everyone who got involved- well done!

St Lukes Choir

The children of St Lukes primary school in Salford delighted shoppers at Swinton Shopping centre by singing rousing Christmas songs Friday 10th Dec.

The weather didn’t dampen their Christmas spirit and they certainly brightened up the day with their Christmassy cheer!!

A big thank you to Mrs Whitehead for leading the pupils and for your wonderful support!St Lukes Primary School, Swinton Sq 2021Christmas Carols

Thank you also to the children and staff at Springfield Primary School, Sale who invited me along to their outdoor Carol Concert. The children sang beautifully, lots of festive songs and all the staff, parents and VIPS joined in enthusiastically!

After the concert they passed our Kidscan bucket round and onlookers kindly donated £150.45 to Kidscan!

Mrs Curzon, Springfield PrimaryThe choir was led by Mrs Curzon who has supported Kidscan for many years, leading choirs at our annual Manchester Cathedral Concert, which we’ve unfortunately not been able to do for two years due to the pandemic.

Mrs Curzon also celebrated 30 years running the choir at Springfield which is incredible! So a huge thank you to her and everyone at Springfield Primary School!
